Postgraduate Diploma/Master of Arts In Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)

Applications are invited for the above programmes of study conducted by the Postgraduate Institute of English (PGIE), the Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL).

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Honours degree in English and/or English Language Teaching, OR,
  • A three-year Bachelor’s degree with English as a subject and at least two (2) years experience in English Language Teaching, OR,
  • A Bachelor’s degree in the English medium and, at least three (3) years experience in English Language Teaching, OR,
  • Any other qualification acceptable to the Senate of the OUSL.

Applicants with relevant professional/teaching qualifications and experience in English language teaching will also be considered.

Entry to the programme(s)

Only those who PASS the compulsory Entry Test will be considered to register for the PG Dip in TESL/MA in TESL. The Entry Test will be conducted on Sunday 10th June, 2018 at the Examination Center specified in the Admission Card issued together with the application form.

Obtaining Application Forms

A limited number of Application forms will be issued on a first come-first served basis from 08th May, 2018 to 31st May, 2018 between 9.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on all week days except Public holidays.

Application forms can be obtained, EITHER directly from the Postgraduate Institute of English, The Open University of Sri Lanka, Nawala, Nugegoda OR by sending a self addressed stamped envelope 25x20c.m. in size to reach the Institute on or before 22nd May, 2018..

Please pay Rs. 1,000/- to the following Account Number of the People’s Bank, Nugegoda and bring the customer copy when collecting the Application Form or attach the customer copy with the self addressed stamped envelope. The payment of the Application Fee of Rs.1,000/= could be made at any major branch of the People’s Bank. The Applicant’s name and National Identity Card No. should be indicated clearly on the Deposit Slip.
