Introduction

A multi-disciplinary diploma designed to meet the increasing demand for multi-skilled travel and tourism professionals who are able to take responsibility for a wide range of complex industry processes by improving their knowledge through an interactive and application-oriented approach to face the challenges of the dynamic industry. The diploma provides practical and analytical competence in socio-economic, ecological, marketing, managerial, accounting, information technological and legal aspects of travel and tourism industry. The course targets those who are already engaged in the travel and tourism fields at different professional levels and also those who aspire careers in the industry.

Admission Criteria

(a).  Have passed the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Examinations or its equivalent.   (Preference will be given to persons who possess adequate work experience). 
                                         or
(b).  Have passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination or its equivalent and have sufficient practical experience in the industry . 
                                        and
(c).  A good working knowledge of English

Target Group

The course targets those who are already engaged in the travel and tourism fields at different professional levels and also those who aspire to a career in the travel and tourism sector. This course gives an opportunity for travel and tourist sector personnel to benefit from studying at a well recognized national university in Sri Lanka

The objective of the programme, therefore, is to provide an opportunity to those who are committed to engage and promote Travel & Tourism Economics and Hotel Management in a sustainable manner to obtain a broad understanding of tourism related issues and discourses, both theoretical and practical, so that their work will be of improved quality. Also the programme with its multidisciplinary nature empowered the students with multiple skills and knowledge to initiate their own tourism ventures.
