Target Audience:
Individuals who wish to work in the housekeeping department of a hotel. The course is also a key course in the diploma program.
Training and development:
Housekeeping covers all the essential areas of room maintenance and cleaning in a hotel, so that guests can always feel comfortable. There are several technical skills to be acquired and interpersonal skills. Once you have completed this course you will be confident in the needs and routines of housekeeping and effective in a hotel from day one. Participants will have attained NVQ level 4 capability by the end of the program.

- Know housekeeping equipment and how to use effectively
- Hotel rooms, bathrooms, fittings and accessories
- How to attend to the various rooms and fittings
- Room amenities and accessories and their maintenance
- Preparing a room for guest arrival, turndown
- The art of perfect bathroom cleaning
- Communicating and planning guest arrivals and departures with Front Office
- Handling guest items
- Laundry
- Learning guest services provided by housekeeping
- Best practices in housekeeping
- Learn to be proactive with customers
Assessment
There will be a final assessment at the end of the course, consisting of a full housekeeping guest room cleaning and laundry service cycle. To receive your diploma, you will need to spend 3 months doing practical work in housekeeping in a hotel.
Qualification: Swiss Certified Housekeeping Officer, Diploma in Housekeeping
Entry requirements
- Completion of either O levels or A levels
- Minimum age: 16 years
- English & Customer Service for Hospitality Diploma
